Gentlemen.... BEHOLD!

As much as we were stoked to have Saint Vitus play our 5th Anniversary, we feel like our 6th anniversary weekend is a lot more vital to all of us. We've decided to spread this one out over a few shows for everyone, not just the usual punk goes metal type crowd. The first weekend of August is a very special weekend to the Red 7 folks, and we hope you get a chance to come and check out one, if not more of these shows.

Thursday August 2nd
????
Friday, August 3rd (inside) -
Obits, Mind Spiders, Fleshlights, Manhunt
//(outside):
MeWithoutYou, Kevin Devine, Buried Beds
Saturday August 4th (inside):
Jonathon Toubin's Soul Clap with The Crack Pipes!
//(outside):
?????
Sunday, August 5th:
AGALLOCH, Taurus, TBA

Our 6th year has been an insane one for us. We've gone through some crazy facelifts of the interior and exterior of the club. We've Had the honor of being hand picked by Green Day to play a secret show for the fun of it, then At The Drive In, who played their first live show in 11 years on our outside stage.

After years of trial and error, and with the help of the great folks at Prototype Vintage Design, our inside stage has finally become what we've always wanted it to be. We've always been proud of our staff and friends for making Red 7 into the venue it is today, but now, we have the sound system, facilities and atmosphere to go with it. Something for Everybody

Rumors Rumors Rumors

All of us here at Red 7 are flattered to know we're the occasional source of gossip. I mean, we get it. We closed down for a few weeks in December, threw in a couple of Playstations and some minor repairs, and now people are assuming we're leaving town just because Emo's moved off the block.

Well, I'm sad Emo's left downtown. A lot of us cut our teeth there, and it was a great venue that helped shape Red River.

At the same time, our friends at Beerland down the street just resigned their lease (long live Beerland!), The Mohawk is in the midst of building out a fancy new viewing deck and our neighbors at Empire Automotive have really been stepping it up on doing more live shows than before. We're excited to see a combination of new blood and old veterans investing their time, money and talent in this district, and we're even more excited to be a big part of it.

We don't have any plans on going anywhere. We aren't moving South of the River, and we aren't closing our doors. Why would we? Red River is one of the most important neighborhoods in Austin, and we're fighting to keep it here for the long haul. Starting with re-signing our lease.

In the meantime, we've made some improvements to the facilities and programming and have a lot of great shows (and a few surprises) in store for you in the near future, so stay tuned.

The New Boris song. Pretty great. The New Russian Circles Song, also pretty great.

I hate finding out that I love something on Pitchfork. It doesn't happen often, but every now and then I cruise on their site to see WTF kids are listening to.

It'd be like if your creepy loser uncle sets you up on a blind date and you it ends up being someone cool/attractive.

Wait, I have a better analogy. It'd be like one of those stupid "Best dive bar" TV shows actually turning you on to a delicious hole in the wall in a city you've been to 1000 times.

No no no, I got it! It's like being turned on to your new favorite beer because it's on special at a TGI Fridays. Yeah, that's it. Pitchfork is the TGI Fridays of music reviews.

Anywho, Pitchfork dropped the new single by Boris today. It's entitled "Spoon".

Anyways, yeah, whatever. This song is great.
